Chickens with Attitude

Good work and great fun.

Chickens with Attitude provides opportunities for individuals living within the Hudson Valley to connect, learn and grow together through events like "Chicken Yoga for the Soul", "The Chicken Run 5k", and the "Give a Cluck for Kids" annual gift drop. With the power of a small but enchanting group of domesticated fowl we strive to use good humor and friendship to support our friends and neighbors.

Our chickens have been the recipients of the Dutchess County Executive's "Poultry Laureate award, and the centers of attention at the local Hudson Valley Renegade's baseball games.

Jolene was one of six chicks who hatched in the Hudson Valley in the spring of 2021. Jolene’s egg was blue, while all the others were brown or white. Jolene was born with a birth defect known of as perosis which made it impossible for her to fly or run.

In the book Jolene, the Disability Awareness Chicken, Jolene and her sister Christopher help inspire children to embrace what is special and different in each other.

In August of 2020, a lone chicken had been wandering around the streets of Beacon, NY.  One day someone kind found her and brought her home.

Later that afternoon an update was posted on Facebook, saying that the chicken was so friendly, walking around her new neighborhood - checking in with everyone, networking, socializing - that she had been officially named The Mayor.

At this point, this chicken has made people - neighbors- children- families - laugh with her sincere desire to work together with others in her community.

Many thanks to all who responded to The Mayor's simple but happy existence with joy.

We hope to see you on her page.

Peace.
